Jews On Broadway

Follow the history of Jews in theater from the first performances of the Brody singers and the early Goldfaden plays of the 19th century; to the Yiddish theater of New York; to the music of Irving Berlin, the Gershwins, Jerome Kern, Oscar Hammerstein II and Stephen Sondheim; to the comedy of the Marx Brothers, Neil Simon, Woody Allen; to the public theater of Joe Papp.

American theater would not have been the same without the contributions of Jewish immigrants.
